SCHOOL OF EARTH SCIENCE AND GEOGRAPHY, KINGSTON UNIVERSITY
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT IN PALYNOLOGY
The School of Earth Science and Geography invites
applicants for an eleven-month, full-time, fixed-term
Research Assistant in Palynology to work on a NERC funded
project entitled 'Modern pollen/vegetation relationships in
alder carr as an aid to the interpretation of Holocene
pollen diagrams'.
He/She will work in close collaboration with the Principal
Investigator (Dr Martyn Waller, Kingston) and
Co-investigator (Dr Jane Bunting, Hull). The work will
include vegetation analysis of select alder carrs, the
collection of modern pollen samples (up to eight weeks
field work is envisaged), the preparation and counting of
the pollen samples and undertaking computer-based data
analysis (under the guidance of Dr Richard Armitage,
Kingston).
Applicants must hold, or be about to gain, a PhD in
Quaternary or Modern palynology and ideally should be
experienced in vegetation analysis and/or GIS methods.
Starting date: Applicants must be available to start on 4th
June 2001 and be prepared to undertake fieldwork through
June and July.
Starting salary £16,209 plus £1500 London Allowance.
Closing date for applications is 15th March 2001
