Larsen did an edition of the Amoretti published by MRTS (Medieval and
Renaissance Texts and Studies, published out of Arizona State
University); it relies on and expands the work of Alex Dunlop and William
Johnson. Johnson's book on Amoretti, published just a few years ago, is in
effect an edition with a great deal of commentary on each sonnet. The
focus in both cases is on the calendrical and liturgical aspects of the
sequence. Even those like myself who have also written on this may find
the claims excessive but the volumes remain very interesting. Anne
Prescott.
