Attitudes to Government Spending:
How much extra tax is needed to make a difference?
Applications are invited for a one-year half-time research assistant to carry
out secondary analysis of a new module fielded as part of the 2001 British
Social Attitudes survey and of related surveys. This is a chance to be
involved with a major survey dealing with one of the key public policy issues
facing government.
The work will be supervised by Professor Peter Taylor-Gooby at Kent and will be
co-directed by Ms Catherine Bromley at the National Centre for Social Research.
You will have a good honours degree and preferably a postgraduate social
science qualification that includes research methods, experience of analysing
large scale social survey data and an interest in the politics of social and
public policy. The appointment will be made on the RA1B Scale (point 7), £18152
