On the topic of Spenser's reading, see Lee Piepho's exciting discovery of
"the only extant ones /books/ known to have been owned by him" recorded in
a letter in TLS January 5, 2001, page 15. I'll stick my neck out
again: Secundus's Epithalamion seems to have influenced that of Spenser,
being even more racy.
