Subject: Trauma experience
Hi Robbie,
I did a lot of work looking into para trauma experience in 1997. The figures
do indeed bare out. I don't know who was replying to you in the post but i
looked at the busiest centre at that time (97) which was stoke, they were
pulling in approx 220 major trauma's a year (ISS>15 which is not really that
much). They were fed mostly by 3 (but 4 had access) ambulance services. Just
taking a very conservative number of paramedics in the 3 services equated to
1 every 19 months.
Tim Coates at the RLH and Gareth Davies with LAS found it was between 15-24
months depending on geography.
Any other info you want, just ask
Cheers
