That's a completely defeatist argument Mike, and a self fulfilling prophecy
to boot. Somebody's got to start the ball rolling and it sure as hell ain't
going to be the physicians! But I agree in principle, the consultant
physicians could do more to support their SpRs during take nights. However
the other specialities are more likely to get involved if we set the trend.
As an earlier correspondent said, if an A&E consultant is pushing along a
critical case, then there's a far greater likelihood that that patient will
be seen by another consultant or get proper imaging that night etc etc.
