Research Officer: £16,948 - £22,004 per annum incl LWA
Research with Low Income Families
The successful candidate will join the Social Security Research Team, one of
two core-funded by the Department of Social Security. It carries out
large-scale surveys of Britain's low-income families, lone parents, low-paid
workers and employers, unemployed, and disabled people. The Social Security
Team has a strong reputation for high quality independent research that
contributes directly to policy development. The appointment is expected to
be on the Research Fellow scale but an exceptionally qualified Research
Officer candidate may be considered.
Candidates will have a good social science degree, at least two years'
research experience and a strong interest in developing high-level skills in
survey research. A higher degree in research methods may be an advantage and
successful candidates will be good at multivariate analysis.
Sustainable Development Research
The successful candidate will help run a Sustainable Development Research
Network co-ordinated by PSI on behalf of the Department of the Environment,
Transport and the Regions.
However, contributions to other projects would be expected.
The person appointed will have a relevant post-graduate degree and at least
two years' work experience relating to some aspect of environmental policy.
They should be aware of the social and economic dimensions of sustainable
development. They will be able to communicate effectively with senior people
in academia, policy and business. Experience of working in an
inter-disciplinary environment would be an advantage.
