In 1960 when living in Germany,I was given a copy of the New Song Fest, a publication of the Intercollegiate Outing Club Association, by a recently qualified American engineer who was travelling South from Copenhagen with wife child and guitar in a camper. It is similar to the Scottish Students Song Book. It seems to have been published in 1937 or 8. My edition is 1954. In the preface the compilers list some fifteen songs which "should have been included, but had to be left out. Not only do they list in this section The Whiffenpoof Song (Miller Music Corporation) but also On The Road To Mandalay (G.Schirmer Inc) and I Learnt about Women from 'er.(I assume this is from Kipling's The Ladies, a suitable poem for a student smoking concert. It would be interesting to read what the student version looked like!
