Technology (ILRT)

Senior Technical Researcher (full-time RII - £22,579 - 
£30,065)

The Institute for Learning and Research Technology is an 
international centre of excellence in the development and 
use of new technology in learning and research. The 
Institute currently houses 40 projects and is seeking to 
recruit a further staff member to undertake technical 
research and development on the newly funded FILTER 
project. 

In addition to the technical/research effort the post 
holder will research, construct and implement the FILTER 
database, and liaise with other technical staff, research 
coordinators and external parties.

A knowledge of Internet technologies and standards 
particularly regarding database, metadata, search 
engines, Web search standards and digital library 
research is essential. Knowledge of Unix systems, 
experience of database construction and the ability to 
programme in either Perl, Java or SQL are all essential 
qualities. 

This is a full time post for one year in the first 
instance. The salary is in the range £22,579 - £30,065.
