Joel,
Our experience - at a departmental level - has been that staff like to
have profile pages but are not particularly keen to become involved
directly in setting them up (even at a 'low-level' with MS FrontPage) or
managing them. We developed a template which was distributed by email,
the replies are passed to a web editor who publishes and updates the
content. Our offer of direct access to the content for updating via
FrontPage was not received with any enthusiasm even though FrontPage is
on staff machines as part of the Microsoft Office installation.
We are currently setting up a facility which will allow PG students to
create their own web pages directly, but this will be via a template and
web-based forms, therefore no deviation from the design and content
categories will be possible.
Regards,
Martin.
