I am looking for help in the specification of two servers, an Application
Server Host and a Database Server, to run WebCT V4 which is not due for
release until Q4 2001 for Budget forcasting purposes
In the past WebCT has stated that it will utilise an "n" tier architecture
base around industry standard components. I am assuming that the
configuration may be something like:
Application Server Host
Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000 Server
Java Development Kit
MS Internet Information Server
Java Bean Activation Frame Work
Java Mail
MS SQL server JDBC drivers
SQL Client
Database Server Host
MS SQL server
Based on the current usage statistics I predict that the load on the system
in three years time will be as follows:
Maximum file hits/hour 400,000
Maximum requests/hour 48,000
Maximum visits/hour 18,900
Bandwidth MB/hour 750MB
Individual users 5,000
Courses 1000
(Total WebCT user licences 50,000)
I would welcome any advise on the specification of an enterprise system of
this scale, based on comparable architectures.
