Subject: How are you implementing metadata and XML?
To: [log in to unmask]
This is probably a Noddy question, but I'd rather ask it and look stupid
than not get some useful replies.
We are updating our Web site over the next year, at the same time as
introducing a new library management system (not yet chosen), which we
hope will also be able to handle XML. So we want to prepare ourselves by
working on style sheets, and by producing some basic standards for all
cataloguing staff to use in incorporating metadata into the cataloguing of
Web pages.
I would like to find out what other university libraries are doing in
these areas, on a day to day basis, rather than large projects such as
CEDARS.
We are finding it difficult to know where to start. So I would appreciate
any advice, links or warnings about how to/how not to introduce these
elements into our systems.
Thank you
