A few weeks ago I asked for ideas for a talk on The Web for PR and
Marketing. Many thanks for the suggestions I received. I gave the talk
yesterday at a HEERA training day. My slides are available at:
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/web-focus/events/seminars/heera-mar-2001/
I was slightly embarrassed when I found out that two members of the company
which has designed the HEERA web site (available at www.heera.ac.uk) where
present at the event, and one attended my talk - as you will see if you see
the slides.
At the event I attended the Seniors (!) track. The morning consisted of
talks on HERO - the background to HERO by Chris Harris, and the
practitioners experience by Andy Price of Teeside.
In the afternoon after my talk, there was a talk on Internet Strategies
(they are a good thing) and one on Email marketing. The latter talk was
given by young guys in a dot com company. I must admit to being very
worried about the implications of their talk - email marketing campaigns are
a good think which you should all be doing, always use HTML mail (pay no
attention to luddites in IT service departments or Unix users).
The event itself was very good, and at 25 pounds including good food, a
bargain. It was good to meet a number of Web editors I'd not met before -
including some lurkers on this list. Any of the lurkers like to give their
views?
