Web Interface Developer (Ref 534/01)
Required to work on two JISC/ESRC funded projects designed to provide
web-based access to microdata samples from the 1991 and 2001 Censuses.
Applicants should be educated to degree standard or equivalent, and have
several years' experience of web authoring software and building web
interfaces. Applicants should be familiar with Windows-based computing and
office software and possess excellent problem-solving abilities. The ability
to work closely with both CCSR & MIMAS (Manchester InforMation & Associated
Services).
A knowledge of web-based design technologies, e.g. CGI programming (Perl,
Java) & metadata standards and related technologies (e.g. XML) is desirable
as is experience of developing user interfaces. Familiarity with statistical
analysis packages such as SPSS or SAS, large scale datasets or NT systems
administration is also desirable.
The post is for 2 years full-time in the first instance. The salary is on
ALC Grade 2 (£19,482-£25,213).
