Hi Peter
In WebCT we have a course that all students are enrolled in (we like to
think of it as a commonroom). But it can also be used for files and quizzes
that all students must take. A link can be put inside any course to a page
on the general course -- so long as the student is enrolled in the other
course, it works. This technique has limitations, but goes partway towards
what you want to do. The results of quizees of course go to the Commons
course not the individual course.

Hi all
One of the many messages I received from this list yesterday - and one which
I can now no longer find - referred to one of the problems of VLEs in
comaprison to Intranets, namely that it is difficult to share materials
across courses. Certainly my limited experience of WebCT for example has led
me to believe that you have to place files within course webs - if they are
appropriate to more than one course then you have to physically place them
in each course that wants them. Apart from the administrative burden that
this will place on tutors or champions, it also virtually disables any
search facility that exists. I presume students are only able to search on
their own course.
Does anyone have any experience of this problem and possibly any
workarounds?
Cheers
