On October 25th & 26th 2001 the 14th ICTCT Workshop of ICTCT -
the International Co-operation on Theories and Concepts in Traffic
Safety - will take place in Caserta, Italy. The topic of the Workshop
will be:
"Road user characteristics with emphasis on life styles, quality of
life and safety"
All life quality and safety features connected to the life style of
different groups and sub-groups ("segmentation"), with respect to
age, gender, profession, etc.) of road users are interesting in this
connection: young drivers, senior citizens, gender as pects, disco
problems, intoxicated road users, professional drivers, people with
mobility problems, etc. belong to this area. One connection
between mobility-problems and safety problems is for instance
when elderly people find the environment so difficult to handle, also
with respect to safety, that they reduce their mobility. The safe and
sustainable use of road infrastructure and innovative traffic and/or
transport sys tems relate strongly to road user characteristics
including also educational/persua sivvie aspects, and vice versa.
The life-style perspective can be related to infrastructure as pects,
but also to vehicle related and educational/persuasive aspects.
Even the introduction of innovative transport systems can provide
safety improvements (e.g., disco buses).
The 14th ICTCT workshop offers a multidisciplinary forum for
discussion of these topics among international experts in a relaxed
atmosphere. ICTCT invites interested persons to send in abstracts
of half to 1 page by May 31, 2001 to the ICTCT Secretariat.
Discussions will be related to about 30 presentations and
additional posters. You are invited to submit abstracts concerning
recent work on the topic or related theoretical elaboration. Each
abstract should include paper title, author=92s name, affiliation, and
contact data including e-mail address. The author(s) should also
specify whether the paper is meant for oral or poster presentation
or either. Maximum one paper per author will be accepted.
The papers will be selected by the Scientific Committee of the
workshop. The ICTCT secre tariat will inform the authors and send
out a preliminary programme by June 30, 2001. Final papers have
to be provided as a Word file at the workshop in Caserta by the
latest. The proceedings will be published as usual at the ICTCT
web site www.ictct.org
