Just a brief reminder about two, forthcoming ASC conferences on
Internet Survey Research:
INTERNET SURVEY CHALLENGE AND SHOWCASE
January 31, 2001
Mander Hall, Hamilton House, London
and a call for contributed papers to be presented at the
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SURVEY RESEARCH METHODS.
THE CHALLENGE OF THE INTERNET.
May 11-12, 2001, Latimer Conference Centre, London
At the INTERNET SURVEY CHALLENGE AND SHOWCASE, 4 suppliers of internet
survey software (FIRM, Humanvoice, Mercator and Pulse Train Ltd) will
implement solutions to a standard set of tasks ranging from sampling to
web-based publication. In addition, two case studies will be presented
by John Lyon (NOP) and Simon Musgrave (Data Archive) to illustrate the
limitations of off-the- shelf internet solutions. The day will be
kicked off by Neil Swan (Maritz TRBI) who will use his keynote address
to set the standards to which our challengers should aspire.
The CHALLENGE OF THE INTERNET will have more depth and be more
focussed than 1-day meetings or the larger ASC international
conferences. It will consist of four half-day sessions, each with a
specific theme, an invited keynote speaker and three contributed
papers. The proceedings will be prepared in advance and distributed
to participants at the conference.
Proposals for contributed papers in the following areas are now
being invited:
* Designing on-line studies to maximum advantage
* Sampling and instrumentation issues
* Dissemination of survey and other statistical information
* Integration through software and metadata
Proposals are required by January 19; notification of selected papers
will be sent out by January 26.
Full details of both conferences are available on the ASC web pages
(http://www.asc.org.uk).
