The Urban China Research Network, with support from the Mellon
Foundation, is continuing its program of small grants (up to $3000)
for graduate students in the social sciences. The next deadline for
applications is March 1. A listing of successful proposals from Fall
2000 is available on our web page.
We are also pleased to initiate a similar program of small grants (up
to $5000) for new faculty whose principal affiliation is in institutions
in mainland China. The current competition is open to those who
received their PhD in 1997 or later.
Information about both programs can be found on the Mumford
Center web site, http://www.albany.edu/mumford. Click on the
"Urban China Research Network" button on our opening page. In
the near future, it will be possible to go directly to a new URL,
http://www.albany.edu/chinanet.
Questions about the program and application process may be
