Acupuncture and the concept of Yin and Yang are aspects of traditional
Chinese medicine which are now familiar in the western world. These as
well as ancient Chinese surgery and herbalism and such renowned medical
figures as Huang Ti (the "Yellow Emperor") and Chang Chung-Ching (the
"Hippocrates of China") are illustrated in a poster exhibit prepared by
the National Library of Medicine. Based on an exhibit at NLM in
1999-2000,
the poster displays images from the Library's large collection of books
on
Oriental medicine.
The poster is now available for short-term loan. It consists of two
panels, each 40" x 40". They may be displayed either adjacent to each
other or separately. They may be attached to an easel or wall with
Velcro
strips.
A poster exhibit on the medical school career and graduation of
Elizabeth
Blackwell, the first woman to complete a medical course and receive the
degree of M.D., is also available for loan.
