} Anyway, I wanted to share this in case others have use for this as well.
} I'm very excited that I can potentially run my "legacy" applications
} (Quantrix!) in a window on a Windows computer.
As you may know, there have been some discussions about running OPENSTEP 4.2
under VPC in several of the comp.sys.next.* newsgroups in the past few
months; in particular, there's a current thread in c.s.n.advocacy: "Finally!
run OS/NS inside M$ Windows !". There seem to be mixed reports of success,
but it apparently does work with the latest version of VPC (though it's best
to get the latest OPENSTEP drivers and patches). It would be interesting to
hear how you get on: disk I/O has been reported to be rather slow, but
otherwise it's supposed to work pretty well (though running OmniWeb can cause
problems: now that sounds familiar! :-<). Anyone else using VPC+OS 4.2?
In addition to VPC, there's also VMware which enables the same kind of thing
(and more). However, reports seem to be that OS 4.2 doesn't work on VMware,
and the VMware developers aren't particularly interested in it.
regards,
charles
