Hi. Read about this list in Ascidian News! My name is Serena Teo. I am
Research Fellow at the Tropical Marine Science Institute, National
University of Singapore. Our Institute is quite new and the good news is
that our marine lab will finally be ready later this year. I worked on the
chemical defence mechanisms of ascidians for my PhD (Swansea, UK).
Currently, my research focus is marine biofouling - happily, ascidians are
often the "climax" community! "Organismal" biology is experiencing dark days
as our University launches into a Genome frenzy, so it has become extremely
difficult for us to even mention taxonomy, although there is almost no
documentation of Singapore's sessile fauna! We welcome anyone who might be
interested to study our local fouling organisms, in particular the
ascidians, bryozoans and hydroids, which are much neglected (Let me know
your interests and I'll fix something). I have found Patricia Kott's Qld
Museum Series very helpful, and we would be grateful for your
recommendations of papers useful for identifying Indo Pacific didemnids.
Thank you, and best regards.
