And poetry can also help by raising money!
If you can remember back to 1966 and the Aberfan disaster... i was in one of
my periodic states of shortage of money... and wanted to send something to
the disaster fund. So I wrote a poem and sold it - both in the UK andf the
USA for quite a nice little sum, which I was able to send the fund. (It was,
by the way, one of the best poems I had written ...at least until that
time).
Of course, the publisher may have had a lot of guff come in - or expected
that it would...and had formulated that answer to get out of an embarassing
situation.
