Unfortunately, while I realize that your use of Garibaldi muist have
something to do with his 'red-shirts', I am afraid that the main
connotations of the word to me - and doubtless to many others on this side
of the Atlantic, is of a flat rectangular biscuit (cookie) containing
currants.
By the way, I was once told in Italy (by someone who had an ancestor who
knew Garibaldi) that the only reason the shirts were red - rather thasn any
other colour - was that he - Garibaldi - had been able to buy them as a
cheap 'job lot'... Si non e vero....!
