Look Back to See Ahead: 2001
There may have been weddings
and bright, shiny celebrations,
births, deaths, small victories
and minor defeats.
We may have laughed and fought,
fussed, fiddled, wasted time
and made good use of the time
we are given.
We may have feasted and fasted,
dined on fine wine, noshed
fat burgers, greasy fries
and onion blooms.
There may have been days
when we loved away the afternoon
and nights where sleep was left
until morning.
There may have been infinity
and multiple dimensions in the months
cut from the year the world
melted.
No matter how hard we try,
we can not remember the remainder
of the shortest year and fear
year end reviews.
