Sally, there are some great images here ('a spade of
frost' 'darker than an ace', 'vague with burning'
specially appeal.) I, personally, do not like the
sound of 'condolences' here. Perhaps 'well-wishing'
might work better for me but maybe it's just my
pronunciation.
