Yes. SPM warps images, so some things will structures grow whereas others
will shrink. Also, having a lesion in the image will tend to cause SPM's
spatial normalisation to try to shrink it so that the warped image looks
more like the template.

Lesion masking will reduce the latter effect, but the lesion would still
be allowed to grow or shrink.
