Hi, Did you try the -nojvm option at the command line when starting
matlab. I have seen other mails suggesting this. Also since matlab is
not multithreaded, it won't take advantage of multiple CPUs - so you
really have to compare performance to a single 750MHz processor machine.
I am still collating data for my benchmarking test, you could try
running
>>T=bench(5) and sending me the output - I have quite a bit of data to
compare to, and I'll let you know where you are in respect to the rest
of the group....
Yours,
Jon.

Subject: spm performance under solaris 8
hi,
i just installed matlab 6.1 and spm99b on our new box, 8 ultrasparcIII
750
processors, 16GB ram, fast local disks. the first tests with spm were
very
disappointing. i realigned a data set with ~300 planes and it took ages
about 6-8times as long as on a pIII-1000 laptop. especially file io took
ages. a single file is 128kB large and takes 2-3 secondes to write
(normally i see 80-100MB/s on those disks).
any hints where i can tweak performance to improve this situation?
cheers,
bernd
