You can change line 531 of spm_sn3d.m from:
spm_sn3d(subj(i).P,subj(i).matname,bb,Vox,...
[nbasis(:)' iterations 8 rglrztn],Template,...
brainmask, subj(i).objmask);
to (for example):
spm_sn3d(subj(i).P,subj(i).matname,bb,Vox,...
[nbasis(:)' iterations 4 rglrztn],Template,...
brainmask, subj(i).objmask);
Note that the template you use should also be smoothed less.
