It's difficult to tell what is causing this problem. A potential reason
is that one of the .mat files has become corrupted, maybe because:
1) SPM was interrupted when it was being written.
2) Your account is over quota.
3) Disk is full.
4) File size exceeds 2 or 4 Gbytes
- or would do if it could be written to disk.
What were the other error messages? Normally with a segmentation fault,
there is a whole stream of them that it recommends you should report to the
Mathworks. As SPM is a very complicated package with a number of compiled
mex files, then they may not be able to help.
There may still be a handful of bugs in Matlab itself, in which case it would
be impossible for us to figure out what may be causing a segmentation fault
or buss error type crash.
