Dear Richard,
Did you find the avg152*.imgs in the Canonical directory? These have not
been smoothed, which the images in the template directory have been. I
guess the amount of blurring in the unsmoothed images reflects some
sort of measure of the
certainty with which you can specify that you are in the BG, thalamus
etc. If these images will not work for you, you could try Colin Holmes'
brain, which is matched to MNI space, also in the Canonical
directory; there is a higher resolution version on our ftp
site: ftp://ftp.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/pub/imaging/Colin
