Dear Christine,
there is no problem with this. Simply reorient your stack of slices and take
care of the proper dimensions as well as the voxel size. It will depend on
your prior orientation of the images how to reorient them. If spm_defaults.m
assumes radiological orientation (R=L, i.e. left-handed coordinate system),
you should get your image display into something like:
superior superior
right left anterior
posterior
inferior
inferior
anterior
right left
posterior
This may be accomplished by something like -pi/2 pitch & pi/2 roll depending
on your original header. See John´s mail 21st Jun 2000 re: analyze format,
orientation for further details. The normalization may be affected to some
extent by very few, thick or thin slices. However, I have had good
experiences normalizing sagittal cuts.
Warm regards-
andreas

Subject: sagittally acquired EPI's
Dear all,
Would it be possible to normalize sagittally acquired EPI's using SPM99?
Does anyone have experience using sagittal imaging orientation for fMRI?
Thank you,
Christine Preibisch
