Dear Karsten,
What we think *might* be the problem are the meninges. In this subject we
think that they might be a little thicker than usual. If you look in the t1
template in SPM you can't see the meninges at all. The thicker meninges
look like a separate, inner, rim equivalent to the skin; at the occiptal
pole this is most exaggerated. We think that SPM may be trying to fit the
meninges to the skin of the template in this region in the non-linear part.
Funnily enough we are always able to see the meninges, so its a bit strange
that there is no signal in the template at all.
Paul.
