It should be possible to use SPM for other modalities, providing you have
appropriate templates etc.

There are a few things to ensure first:
1) Disable the brain masking option for the spatial normalisation.
2) Make sure the template image has been smoothed by 8mm FWHM.
3) Check that your image formats are all OK.
4) Use the <Check Reg> button to make sure that the initial position of
the image is not too far from the template.
5) Make sure the template is not rotated in any way (when you display
it via the <Display> button, its direction cosines should be an identity
matrix - all zero apart from ones on all the diagonal elements).
There may be some things I have forgotten as well.
