Dear Jose,
We at Ghent University Hospital, Belgium, have the same scanner.
We started fMRI on our old 1T Siemens Expert and changed May last year to
the Symphony.
Siemens provided us with a standard EPI sequence. The bad thing about this
is that every slice is an entry in the database (which can only contain
120000 entries, which is bad for large studies). We asked Siemens for a
mosaic sequence. We got one and this is much better bcause now every volume
is one entry. However, this sequence does not generate standard dicom
images. All images (eg 25) are put in one matrix image (in this case a 5x5
matrix) and considered as one image. So you need a program to convert this
to standard dicom.
What we do is:
1. Send the images to a FreeBSD computer.
2. For each image in the directory do
extract the raw data (loose the header -> can be done by free command
line dicom software)
and write it to a file
convert the mosaic image to a stack of images in one file (this is
nothing more than copying data in
memory, I'v written software for this, you can get it for free)
3. Convert the standard dicom image to a Analyze image (can be done by
medcon, free software to
download, you can also use mricro)
This is in very short what we do, for a full description of how we do fMRI
please feel free to mail me.
