If you are aware of a student who is interested in pursuing a PhD in
physical chemistry, could you bring the following ad to their attention.
With apologies for cross postings.

PHD STUDENTSHIP
Photodetachment and Photofragmentation Spectroscopy
Applications are invited for the above EPSRC funded studentship.
Photodetachment of negative ions provides a general route to hitherto
inaccessible neutral systems that are of novel chemical interest. We are
developing a new instrument for photodetachment and photofragmentation
spectroscopy, which combines negative-ion photoelectron spectroscopy with
coinicidence neutral particle detection. The project will be jointly
supervised by Prof. Klaus Müller-Dethlefs and Dr. Caroline Dessent.
Applications will focus on the spectroscopy and dynamics of i) molecular
clusters of atmospheric interest, and ii) electron-transfer states. Ab
initio molecular orbital calculations using our share of a 32 processor
IBM/SP2 parallel supercomputer will supplement the experimental research.
You should hold, or expect to hold, a degree in Chemistry, Physics, or a
related area. The studentship is available from 1 October 2001, with the
possibility of deferment until 1 October 2002.
Further information on the University of York can be obtained from the
university web server: http://www.york.ac.uk. Interested applicants should
