Dear All,
Am I alone in sensing some danger in the use of remote sensing to
draw axial maps?
I am not sure how much agreement I have found with my proposition
that an axial line must be a straight route you can realy see along AND
pass along, but I wonder whether remote sensing on its own can
deliver this.
I checked the images on the link James gave - could you really tell if a
wire fence was streached between two buildings? or across an
apparent gap in a fence?
Of course you might get lucky and find no problems which make much
difference to the results, but how would you know?
Perhaps remote sensing would make a great way to get a first draft
map, but Alans advice is surely important: always check on the
ground as well if at all possible.
As usual - remember that this is the advice of someone who is NOT a
spacesyntax reseacher, I hope others will correct my mistakes.
regards, Tom
