Calling colleagues interested in the training of Graduate Teaching
Assistants (GTAs)

I am writing to see if 3 or 4 people would be willing to join a small
national group, facilitated by the LTSN Generic Centre, to collate
existing
effective practice in supporting Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). I
am aware that some good practice already exists in the form of
programmes and materials. What the Generic Centre would like to do is to
co-ordinate the available resources electronically and make them
available to the HE sector (with permission and full recognition of the
person/institutions who produced them), look at where the gaps are and
commission new material. Also I seek your advice as to whether you think
there is a need to run a national network group to disseminate that
practice and share ideas.

My request is therefore fourfold:

1. For 3 or 4 names of interested people to join a core group. If
you
are interested please email me giving brief details about yourself and
the
reason for the interest.

2. If you know of materials, good practice, projects, websites etc
again let me know giving details.

3. What materials/resources/workshops/conferences would you like to
see, that you believe are currently not available to support the
training of
GTAs?

4. Is there a need to disseminate practice in the area of GTAs? Is
this an area of interest to your institution?
