Applications for licences to dredge for marine aggregates in the UK must be
accompanied by an environmental statement that requires an assessment of the
likely significant effects of extraction on the archaeological heritage.
Wessex Archaeology has been commissioned by Royal Commission on the Historic
Monuments of England and the British Marine Aggregates Producers Association
to guidance on the how this should take place. Wessex has considerable
experience in this type of work, however in order that the end produce is a
comprehensive as is possible we would be interested in hearing from others
in the UK and abroad who are carrying out work of this kind.
