Unilever is one of the worlds largest consumer goods companies selling Home and
Personal Care and Foods products in over 150 countries. Every day, 150 million
people choose our products to feed their families and clean their homes. Our
key brands include Dove, Knorr, Lipton, Magnum, Omo and Cif.

We currently have vacancies in two groups at our North Beds site:

The Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC) is a central resource
providing expertise and advice on safety and environment matters to Unilever's
global operations. SEAC has expert knowledge of hazard analysis and risk
assessment for products and processes.

The Data Sciences group provides statistical consultancy across the three major
areas of the laboratory; Foods and Consumer Science, Biosciences and SEAC.
Methodology development and improvement is also a vital part of our role, as is
providing training to scientists.

We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated people with excellent
communication skills. We have several posts available and are looking for
people with varying levels of experience. Good IT skills are essential and
experience with a major maths or statistics package would be desirable,
although full training will be given where appropriate.

New vacancies in the Risk Analysis group include:

Decision Analyst (2 vacancies. Ref. 291078)
The successful candidate will deploy and develop decision analysis techniques
to frame and structure problems, develop scenarios based upon information and
elicited knowledge, quantify risk and recommend solutions / options, which will
minimise risk and maximise benefits.

Applicants are expected to have experience of applying Decision Analysis
techniques to real problems. Proven facilitation and good mathematical skills
are essential.

Epidemiologist (Ref. 291089)
This role will develop and apply novel probabilistic / epidemiological risk
models, which can either be used in specific risk assessments or be
incorporated into design tools or decision support systems.

Applicants are expected to have a first degree or post graduate qualification
in statistics or epidemiology. Several years experience of applying and
adapting techniques to solve problems in a safety domain would be an advantage.

Environmental Modeller (Ref. 291088)
Develop and apply probabilistic environmental exposure models, possibly within
a joint industry framework. Use the environmental exposure models to gain
regulatory acceptance for probabilistic exposure modelling in the context of
environmental risk assessment.

Applicants should have several years experience of environmental modelling and
a good knowledge of Hydrology, Geology and Chemistry. In addition, the
applicant should also have strong analytical skills and be able to influence at
all levels.

The final vacancy is in the Data Science group:

Statistician / Senior Statistician (Ref. 273175)
The work programme covers a wide variety of science areas including lab
experiments, consumer and clinical trials, environmental and safety risk
assessments. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists in
multidisciplinary teams, providing statistical input at all stages of a project.

Applicants should have a postgraduate qualification in statistics. Experience
of statistical consultancy is desirable, with a minimum of 5 years required for
the senior post.
