Leeds University Business School, where the Centre for
Decision Research is based, is seeking to recruit a
Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Decision Sciences
(ref. 031-018-002-009). We have a strong decision
research community here, both within LUBS and the
University and there are many opportunities for
collaboration within the university and with locally based
national and international organisations.
The posts’ aims are to contribute to high levels of
research and teaching achievement for the School, to
develop and further strengthen the contribution to
Management within the Business School, to promote
opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within the
School and the University more widely and to foster
appropriate links with outside bodies. We encourage
qualified members of the decision research community
to apply.
The group’s research interests lie in decision research,
operations management information systems and
management science. Teaching will include quantitative
techniques/applications and specialisms.
The Centre for Decision Research is an inter-
departmental centre within the University of Leeds,
acting as a focus for decision researchers working in a
wide range of units: Computer Studies, Business and
Management, Psychology, Philosophy, Transport
Studies, the Nuffield Institute for Health, the Research
School of Medicine, Civil Engineering, Geography, Law,
etc. The University also has strong links with Leeds
General Infirmary and St James's University Hospital,
which are both members of the Leeds Teaching
Hospitals Trust.
Leeds University Business School is a major and rapidly
expanding business school, which provides leading
edge research and teaching across the full range of
management and business disciplines. The research
and teaching interests of academic staff include
Accounting & Finance, Financial Services & Credit
Management, Economics, Industrial & Labour Studies,
Organisational Behaviour, Business Modelling,
Management Decision Analysis, Marketing, Strategy
and International Business.
Leeds is the commercial, industrial, financial and
sporting centre of West Yorkshire, and is well-liked by
those who live and work here - and by the student
population, over twenty percent of whom stay on to work
in the area. It is the fourth largest and fastest growing city
in Britain, and the twentieth largest in the European
Community, but with more parks and open spaces than
any other except Vienna. The central shopping area,
famous for its late Victorian arcades is being
increasingly pedestrianised.
