SDR-NETWORK PUBLISHES ON-LINE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH DATABASE
The Sustainable Development Research Network today published a unique
on-
line database of UK sustainable development (SD) research organisations,
programmes, major projects and networks (available at
http://www.sd-research.org.uk/main.html).
This powerful tool will provide an invaluable and flexible resource for
all
of those researchers, researcher managers, policy-makers, industrialists
and other
stakeholders who fund, undertake, manage or use the findings of SD
research.
The initial database contains information on over forty research
organisations. It will be progressively expanded to provide definitive
coverage of British and overseas research relevant to sustainable
development in the UK.
Research organisations not currently list in the SDR-Network's database
can
submit their details by e-mail or as hard copy by completing a
downloadable
questionnaire from the network's website (www.sd-research.org.uk).
The development of the database was funded by UK Government's
Sustainable
Development Unit (now located in DEFRA) as part of its sponsorship for
the Sustainable Development Research (SDR) Network.
Notes:
1. The Sustainable Development Research (SDR) Network is a UK wide
initiative, co-ordinated by the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) in London
in
collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Development (CfSD) at the
University of Westminster and the Centre for the Study of Environmental
Change and Sustainability (CECS) at the University of Edinburgh.
2. The SDR-Network promotes high quality cross cutting research that
integrates consideration of the environmental, social and economic
pillars of
sustainable development.
