EXCITING FOOD SAFETY RESEARCH GROUP
=B7 New Risk Assessment Service
=B7 Primary Sector and Through-Chain Approach
=B7 Specialist Discipline-Based Resource for all Commodities

The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), a
leading-edge primary industry research organisation, is seeking to
establish a dynamic, food safety Risk Assessment capability to assist
industry meet trade access and public health requirements. This expanded

research group is part of a wider food safety program being developed by

Primary Industries and Resources South Australia.

The Food Safety Research Group will provide specialist epidemiology,
risk modelling, predictive microbiology and sampling statistics and
methodologies to support the:
=B7 identification of food safety risks
=B7 development of food safety procedures and quality systems
=B7 validation of food safety systems, and
=B7 development of equivalence submissions for industry.
The group will provide a specialist, discipline-based resource to
support food safety projects in collaboration with SARDI's extensive
Aquatic Sciences, Crops, Horticulture and Livestock Systems research
areas.

The research group will be co-located with other food safety related
services including the pork risk assessment unit, veterinary
laboratories, meat hygiene unit and animal health programs in
metropolitan Adelaide.

Program Leader, Food Safety (Risk Assessment)

The Program Leader is responsible for program development, providing
scientific support to policy development by industry and government and
maintaining standards of excellence within SARDI's food safety projects.

SARDI is looking for an innovative scientist with an internationally
recognised research portfolio who can integrate the discipline-based
skills of the group to address trade and public health risks. Experience

in successful management of a team is essential.

Remuneration is at the PSO5 level (A$67,431 - A$70,103).

Principal Research Scientist, Food Safety (Simulation Modelling)

The Principal Scientist is responsible for developing and applying
quantitative approaches to food safety risk assessments.

SARDI is looking for an innovative scientist to apply high level
simulation modelling to estimate consumer risk, predict intervention
points and support the development of equivalence submissions (including

validation of food safety systems).

Remuneration is at the PSO4 - PSO5 level (A$59,836 - A$70,103).

Senior Research Scientist, Food Safety (Predictive Microbiology)

The Senior Research Scientist is responsible for applying predictive
microbiology methodologies in the development of quality systems and
through-chain Risk Assessments.

SARDI is looking for an innovative scientist with strong microbiological

skills and experience in applying these across a range of food
commodities.

Remuneration is at the PSO3 level (A$53,444 - A$57,253).

Research Scientist, Food Safety (Epidemiology and Sampling)

The Research Scientist is responsible for providing specialist
epidemiological and sampling statistics and methodologies to support
Risk Assessment projects.

SARDI is looking for an innovative scientist with experience in applying

a range of epidemiological approaches to define risk factors and
population incidence/prevalence statistics, and sampling methodologies.

Remuneration is at the PSO2 level (A$46,566 - A$52,163).

Technical Officer, Food Safety (Technical Integrity)

The Technical Officer is responsible for maintaining the technical
integrity of food safety projects.

SARDI is looking for a technical officer widely experienced in working
with food safety hazards (microbiological and chemical) in the
laboratory and the field. The officer will oversee technical standards,
provide associated training and manage data systems.

Remuneration is at the TGO2 level (A$40,587 - A$43,258).
