APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTINGS.
Readers of this list may be interested in a review I have written of the
First International Workshop on Chance Discovery, held last month in
association with the 15th Annual Conference of the Japanese AI Society.
Chance Discovery is the identification of chance events (such as risks
or
opportunities) in situations where there is little or no relevant data
or
past history. It therefore includes forecasting and decision-making
under
extreme uncertainty, such as demand forecasting for very innovative
products, and the identification of risks for new technologies,
substances
and software.
The review is to be published in the journal "Knowledge Engineering
Review",
