Dear All
Afficianados of the British Transport Films (BTF) film unit are invited
to join a brand new and informal email forum that is dedicated to the
works of the well loved BTF which was responsible for capturing on film
the general transport scene at a time of great transition - a priceless
legacy of moving and still images that deserves more coverage than it
gets today.
It is hoped that this will grow into a popular forum enabling people to
enjoy a free exchange of information, resources, reminisces, reviews and
general chat about BTF.
If you wish to subscribe to the BTF Forum, please visit the following webpage:
http://www.topica.com/lists/btf-forum
Please note that all messages are archived and can be viewed
retrospectively from the website.
Although normally associated with railway work, the BTF repertoire
extended to all facets of transport, including London Transport,
bus/coach tours, inland waterways, sea ports plus travel features and
natural history productions.
There is a website at http://www.britishtransportfilms.co.uk which has a
working framework in place to allow you to have a look at the sort of
things that are planned. If you click on 'Films' you will see a list of
all known BTF films with links to as many descriptions as I have been
able to obtain. I would like visitors to the site to review their own
favourites for inclusion onto the website. One review found whilst
browsing the web was for "A Day of Ones Own", which is highly
entertaining and can be read by clicking on the film's link.
The website hasn't been updated for a few weeks due to my involvement
with other projects, but a major burst of activity is now under way and
I'll post details of major updates to the forum when they are uploaded.
Please feel free to pass on this email to any people that you believe
may be interested.
Regards
Nick Wheat
