The Wellcome Trust
The Wellcome Trust is the UK's largest medical research charity. Its
Medicine in Society Programme is responsible for informing the public about
advances in biomedical research and encouraging dialogue about the
implications of these advances. The work involves supporting a programme of
grants for research and activities as well as directly commissioned
activities and we are now looking for two people to join our team.
Project Manager - Partnerships (post ref: PPM1)
£24,500 - £28,000 + excellent benefits package
As a key member of our team, the focus of this role is to develop and manage
substantial projects, often in partnership, that will help to engage the
public in science and also in the history of medicine. In addition, you are
likely to be involved in partnerships to develop the training of health
professionals. These projects may be undertaken in-house, commissioned or
completed on a grant.
You will have a degree (or equivalent), and 2-3 years experience in the
areas of public engagement in science or 'science and society' policy and
practice. This will include experience of collaborating with national or
regional organisations on projects or initiatives. Demonstrable experience
in project management is essential. An understanding of grant making and
social research processes would be an advantage.
Project Officer - Partnerships (post ref: PPO1)
£21,467 - £24,500 + excellent benefits package
Supporting the programme in achieving its goals, you will take the lead on
small projects and contribute to larger projects relating to the public's
engagement in science and history of medicine, particularly through
partnership work.
Degree educated (or equivalent), the successful candidate will have an
active interest in 'Science and Society' policy and practice. You're likely
to have been involved for at least a year in project work, and ideally will
have managed projects involving external partners. The successful candidate
will be methodical, organised and able to pay attention to detail with
excellent administrative skills.
