Dear list members,
I've been contacted by a journalist named Kate Crocker, who's writing a
story for the Guardian's Rise supplement. She wants evidence and case
studies from current or former postgraduates, or others involved in
postgraduate education, on the following topic:
Dear James
I am writing a feature for the Guardian graduate/ post graduate supplement
Rise, about discrimination from employers against mature students.
The editor of the supplement wanted me to investigate his hunch that
postgraduates also suffer discrimination because some employers see them as
"too academic" or more difficult to mould than a first degree graduate.
Do you know of any such instances or employers who have demonstrated such
discrimination? Or can you help me at all with this?
My deadline is tomorrow, so, if possible I would like to speak to you or
one of your colleagues today at some point.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Kate

If you can assist, I suggest you phone Kate directly, given the timescale.
If you can't get through then email her on [log in to unmask]
I've suggested to her that the phenomenon she suggests may well happen in
the case of ex-research students who wish to go into a business in the
private sector; it's less likely to happen with ex-masters students.
All assistance is appreciated.
Yours,
James
