Dear Alison
Mainly kept company with local people who either
aren't writers or are involved
in writing for film to date... However, I've
met a Ferrara poet Raffaele Fresu who is a very
charming bloke, and the local Dialogue organiser
(we are reading at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte
Moderne - the one in via Belle Arte not the other
one, 23rd of March I think). I'm meeting my first
real Roman poet Riccardo Durante tonight, he too
seems very personable.
Thanks to David for the advice on pub readings, I'll
remember to step in the antiseptic on the way out. And
as for AC, CW, discipline and smokers, well, what have you done
with John Kinsella? Is it true, that in the words of
the late John Forbes, JVK is "Downstairs & screaming,
being shown the instruments"?
Actually that poem "On Tiepolo's Banquet of Cleopatra"
is being translated into Italian for a theatrical production
I'm involved in cooking up with Clesis Arte Roma.
ciao, my internet cafe time is up for today.
Hugh Tolhurst
