Yes, I know that Kipling is not really the in thing
and people think of him as a fascist etc. (they're
even knocking him in the "Poessays" now -- ugh)
_but_ I have a specific reason for wanting to read
a good biography of him. If I were to read only one,
can any of you suggest which one it should be?
My reason for asking (possibly of anecdotal interest
to some): Kippers was the godfather of a relative
of mine, and wrote "If" as a christening present. Said
relative died last month, and I read out "If" at the
funeral. The thoughts milling about in my mind
because of these recent events make me want to
know more.
