My name is Maria Fletcher.
I am an unpublished poet, living in the rural hamlet of Yarlington,
Tasmania.
I have followed this list for some time, hoping to gain insight (and
courage!) into how to venture into the world of publication, and would
appreciate any advice on how to write a biography for an unpublished poet,
to accompany my first tries :)
I have included two examples below:
skin song
Nothing in Nature ages
As feebly as this human skin;
For Nature stands as Testament to Youth
With every Spring.
With thirty summers come and gone,
Beauty hides within;
And puts her fingers to her lips
To bid adieu to sin -
Original as Maytime;
Original as him.
We’ve had our thirty summer’s worth
Of living to die in.
after life
somewhere the widow
dries herself wild
with freshly scrubbed linen
scent with lavendar
and rosemary for remembrance
somewhere the child
lies in the dark
with barely worn hands
holding tools
and an aftershave scented handkerchief
Regards,
Maria Fletcher.
