Having an inbox overloaded with junk goes with the territory at poetryetc.
I
filter poetryetc mail to arrive in its own folder. And I sort and delete by
subject title. Isn't it better to take individual responsibility for
managing poetryetc mail than to harangue others on the list about what they
should or shouldn't post?
I think this is well said. We have heard a number of tactics for dealing
with rubbish already. We all know where our delete keys are! There have
been some particularly irritating ramblings recently and I have used mine a
lot! If there are no responses to a thread then it will die. If people
still want to respond, then it is still alive.
What makes this work or not work is the ability of the participants to
listen, consider and adjust their own frameworks where it is necessary. I
have found what I have seen on this list (under extreme provocation) very
impressive in that sense.
